In . . .

my mild drunken haze, I left a message on everyone of my myspace friend's pages. It didn't really take that long. Although doing that completely sober wouldn't be cool.

Someday . . .

and I'm not gonna say which,

I'm gonna forward every text message I receive for a 24 hour period to this blog. I might be funny. It might be lame.

Ahhhhh

A friend of mine just called me, he is trashed on 4 tequilla sours and a beer. Or so his text messaged called me. My question is what kind of man drinks tequilla sours?

Unified Equation

Supposedly there one equation that will explain the entire universe. I'm not sure what kind of equation it is but I'm pretty sure it ain't something like y=mx+b.

Although maybe it is? Maybe the whole universe can be simplified to one single straight line in a two dimensional universe. How absolutely absurd would that be? Do you think the scientist that discovers this will lose his mind? After years exlporing higher level mathematics, you realized that the math you learned in grade school holds all the information that is needed to explain how the universe works.

But wouldn't that a beautiful and elegant solution to the universe. Y=mx+b. Or maybe even something as simple as a nice differential equation. It would be great to graph it.

Imagine if you could graph it and point to a specific point on the line, or curve or area and say, you see the slope of this region. Thats the human race .. . . . this where we fit into the universe.

If we solved the equation would the universe cease to exist? Would everything just disapear to a single point. The entire universe collapsing into a single point of no dimension.

Megatransect

This last Saturday I "competed" in the Lock Haven Megatransect, a 24.9 mile trail run through Bald Eagle State Park. I finished in 5 hours and 17 minutes. My goal was 5 hours, but I will take the extra 17 minutes. The course was a lot harder than last year. You can view the course with this link here. Here is how the race went . . .

The race starts at 7am. It was almost raining (just very humid) and cloudy which meant it would be a fairly cool day for the race. Great running weather. I swallow 2 power bars on the drive to the race. My friend, Johnny D, and I get to the race with just enough time to pick up the race packets and give a quick stretch before the race is started.

The first section is simple enough. A few miles of road until, we get to make the vicious right hand turn that goes straight up the first mountain ridge. Johnny D and I cruise the road at a nice simple pace. ( around ~9 minute talking pace) We joke around with some of the other competitors. Everyone is in a really good mood. The road slowly turns up hill, some of the runners already start walking. (They know there is a long day ahead.)

The first climb is straight up two thirds of the mountain followed by a diagonal section that goes across it and then to a boulder field that takes us over the mountain. I start climbing. I walk up the hill at good pace, when I finally get to the top I reward myself with a energy gel and keep on "running". Next stop the boulder field.

The boulder field had to be one of the most intimidating parts of the run. It was cloudy so you could not see where it stopped and the boulders required some finess to get over at times. I'm half way through the field and I realize that I am sweating like I have never sweated before. I am drenched. Keep in my this is only one hour into the hike. I lick my lips. They tasted salty. (Images of Ravi at the end of Ironman CDA flashed through my mind.) I reach the top of the first mountain ridge and reward myself with the another energy gel.

What follows is a very rocky and mostly flat or descending trail section that smooths out as it gets to the bottom of the mountain. Lucky for me, at the very first aid station I picked up 3 gels and a pack of salt tablets. Right after the first aid station, I take 2 advil, and 2 salt tablets and a energy gel.

Eventually I reach what mentally feels like the half way mark, a feeding station in a place called Zindell park. It is really only 10 miles into the hike. It is also the lowest elevation of the course. I get a refill of my camel back and take 3 energy gels. I get to running and who I did see less than a quarter mile behind me, Johnny D!!!! He tries to trip as I run past him.

What follows is 6 miles of steady up hill running with a section of very steep trail in the middle. I knew that if I wanted my goal of 5 hours , I had to tear this section up. Well, that is what I did. I pushed myself through the section. Taking gels as I needed, taking salt tablets as needed. I reach the top of that section, and I am no longer happy. I realize I'm out of gels!!!! The classic rookie mistake. I try to turn it into something positive. At least I don't need to worry about eating while running untill the next aid station. The next aid station felt like it was never going to arrive. I just kept trying to push the pace. Alot of the people I passed were walking. I would say my pace was a very steady jog.

Finally an aid station, I grab 3 gel packs. Someone tells me the next aid station is 3 miles away before the last epic climb over the mountain ridge that started the race. I decide it will be a good idea to 3 gels over this section, to have enough energy to make over the mountain without stopping.

Somehow in this section, I run what feels like 8 minute pace while ingesting 3 more gell packs and 2 more salt tablets. I get to the next aid station. I am slightly delerious but pumped to be almost done. I feel alot better than last year and I know that once I get over this mountain the end is only a few miles away. I grab 3 more gel packs and start climbing!!!

The last mountain trail is so steep in the beginning it requires a rope to climb and really the rest of it is not much less steep. The sun starts coming out of the clouds. I'm sweating and my calfs start cramping. People start passing me. I'm getting worried. I finally reach the top and reward myself with another gel and look over the town of Lock Haven.

The last ~5 miles are steep decent of the mountain followed by the paved section that started the race. I try to go down the mountain as fast as possible, but I am way too tall and uncoordinated to dive bomb a rocky trail that steep. Some fellow runners show me how it is done as they fly past me. I keep my pace up and make it to the paved section, I decide to eat another gel. It is no time to slow down. I've got a goal in mind.

I jog as fast as I can. I even catch the runners who dive bombed the downhill. Lucky for me, the running had an added benefit. Train tracks cross the course. As I crossed the train tracks, a freight train was about to block the runners from crossing. I was the last runner to make it through. That saved me about 4 minutes and to stop running would not have been enjoyable at that point.

I cross the finish line grimacing through a lot of pain. I had finished at 5 hours and 17 minutes. It was a long painful day, but alot of fun. I can't explain how that last sentence makes any sense, but to me it does. What followed after the race was some of the worst stomach pains I had ever experienced for about 3 hours. I couldn't eat, nor did I really want to.

Johnny D crossed the finish line and headed straight to the food. He ate 2 slices of pizza and a hot dog before I finished my first soda. That man must have an iron stomach. Well that was the megatransect. It was fun. It was painful and I look forward to doing it next year!!!

Just when you need me to update the blog the most, I leave it to sit still for over a week. Typical male behavior. If it is any consolation my bills haven't been paid yet either.

Now for the mental image, I'm sitting in my purple underwear and sipping my cup of coffee while posting this blog. What type of purple underwear I hear you asking? why none other than American Apparel Underwear.

7.99 for a song and thanks for the memories . . .

I ran my sub 20 minute 5k yesterday!!!! YEAH!!!!
my official time was 19:59.1. Thats right kids, i barely made it. There were some tense moments near the finish.

So i just bought Soundgarden's 1996 release, Down on the Upside for 7.99 off of itunes for really just one song. On it there is a song called, "Blow up the Outside world" that reminds me of my senior year of high school.

See, I moved my senior year of high school, and i wasn't exactly pleased about it. Well, I would wake up really early in the morning to get to school. I think my first class started at 7:20 am and it was always dark out cause it was Northern Mass. I would have my alarm set to radio so I could listen to music as I try to get up. I specifically remember on multiple occasions waking to the open line of this song while I still lie in bed. Which has Chris Cornell (the lead singer of Soundgarden) whispering "Nothing seems to kill me, no matter how hard I try" I always thought that was a great song to start my day back then. Somedays, I still think it is.

All right time to get ready for Fantasy Football Draft!!! Enough sad memories.

How big a dork am I? (here is your answer)

So. I've been doing the west chester cross country series. (a 5k every other Tuesday) It is a fairly tough course. Lots of uphills, Some turns, almost zero pavement. I usually do it up with my boy Matteis, as we battle it out for 5k supremacy. I am sure there are some previous posts with me bragging. Well, for some very important reasons, he couldn't make it out to today's race, so I'm there with a guest.

My time at this 5k had hit a plateau. 20:51. I just couldn't get any faster for some reason. Well, my goal has been to run a sub 20 minute 5k on this course. I figure that would be good for me. Today was the second to last race of the series, so what was the plan . . . Today I run a 20:30 5k and next race, I go for the goal with a 20 minute 5k.

So how big a dork am I? I'm sitting at work doing the math in my head of how fast the mile splits for a 20:30 5k would need to be. It ain't pretty. I figure there is no way. What do I do? I take my pen and write 20:30 on my left wrist such that I can read it when I am running. I am that big a dork.

I get to the 5k and I'm ready to rock. The gun goes off. I'm doing a faster first mile than I had ever done at this race. But I knew what I was there to do. I'm staying focused, looking at my wrist occasionally to help me. The last 1/2 mile of the course is a brutal uphill followed by a false flat all the way to the finish. Not fun.

I come up to the finish, and a girl is standing in front of the clock!!! I see 20:?4 from a distance. I can't read the 3rd digit. I'm sprinting it in, and as I finally get that 3rd digit in view I see the clock now read 20:12. My final time was 20:15.

I may be a big dork with a 20:30 written on my wrist, but I just proved to myself that a sub 20 minute 5k is within reach for the last race of the season. Watch out kids, it is gonna happen!!!

Meet my two good friends . . . .

Today, I would like to introduce my loyal readers to two of my very good friends. Like any pair of friends in life, they represent a duality.

Lets start with my first friend. These bad boys right here. My pair of Asics 2110 running shoes. I would not be caught dead running in any other than asics. They are comparable to the friend that goes out drinking with you and convinces you to stay out till 3 in the morning doing every kind of shot under the sun.

"Forget about the shot of 1800 you just had, I just ordered us some shots of Jager!", "Why don't you have another Red Bull and Stolli, you look a little tired!" would be flying right out of his mouth at midnight with 2 solid hours of drinking ahead of us.

He would put his arm around the girls walking by me and say things like, "Be careful of this guy right here, because he is dangerous!", as he points at you.

The rules don't apply to him. He dishes out the pain, but when it is time to suffer the consequences he is nowhere to be found. He disappears into the night with a fly young philly, only to call you the next night to see if you are up for doing it all over again. He knows no pain, only pleasure.

Then there is my other friend. My super comfortable, extra long, extra cushy, sofa and ottoman combo. (Only the sofa is pictured; the ottoman is a little shy.)

He is the type of friend that will hand me the water when I come home from that long night of drinking and just shake his head at me. As I head to the bathroom to puke my guts out, he comes in to make sure I don't fall asleep on the bathroom floor when I am done. (Where were you in the Summer of '99 Sofa?)

He doesn't understand why I feel it neccesary to hangout with that crazy pair of 2110 Ascis but he never says anything bad to me about it. Deep inside he knows it is something that I need to do, and that without the Asics as my friend, our relationship would be meaningless. He is my support team through all the rough times, and always give me someone to lean when I can't carry myself anymore.

These two friends have added a great amount of meaning and support in my life. In a few months, I will introduce to another great duality amongst my friends, the Bianchi Axis Cyclocross Bike and the queen size bed. Another great pair of friends.

My mind is my mind.

How is my mind, my mind? I am currently on a week long ban from watching television. No boob tube for Charles. It is actually going a lot easier than I thought. Although I wouldn't say I am neccesarily more productive.

I would make an exception if something significant happened in the outside world, and I absolutely had to watch the news.

I know I'm lame, but that is all I got for now.

I'm a tired bear

45 miles in the saddle today! Thats right kids, I'm a born again cyclist. I went out on the cyclocross bike because I am lazy and haven't changed the tires on my road bike. Someone please do me a favor and yell at me to do that cause I'm tired of riding on knobby tires.

For those in the know, I rode to Green Lane on the Perkiomun trail. It was fun but that 422 bridge scares me. Someday someone's fall through that thing.

Anywayz, near the end of the ride, I'm feeling fairly delirious. I role up next to some Mtn biker, and we just start chatting. It was the weirdest thing cause normally cyclist don't really talk to one another, but I think we were both baked from riding most of the day. We compared rides and then said goodbye as he had to get to his car.

When I got home I made myself a couple hamburgers and rewarded myself with one of my new favorite beers, MAGIC HAT #9!!! That stuff rocks.

Did I mention I ran for an hour yesterday? Yeah so I'm tired.

Is it just me or is Entourage the greatest tv show ever?

Dudes, I almost forgot . .

beautiful flatulent serenade

The last update wasn't up to my usual quality. But I was really wiped out, which is the exact same condition I find myself in right now. I think someone might be mistaking me for a runner soon. I did a 5k as I mentioned in the previous post, but then today I went to the BMRC run. I did the fairly hilly 8 mile run. So I'm exhausted, but I might be a runner. (don't tell anybody.)

Another topic . . . .

So I sometimes like to joke around in my mind about asserting the ALPHA presence whenever I happen to find myself. It is a joke because I am amazingly non-ALPHA at times. Today, I took some snow pees to work for a snack. Well, this gave me a great chance to assert my ALPHA self. I sit down in the morning and start snacking away on a big pile of snow pees. (They are awesome!! Just be sure to take the zippers off before you eat them.) A few hours later, I've got gas like you wouldn't beleive and on top off that I feel a two pound duece brewing. So I head on over to the men's room to take care of some serious bussiness. Wouldn't you know it?!? The men's room is one stall short of a full house. I'm not bladder shy and I certainly ain't about to be sphincter shy when it is time to go. ( If you doubt me, read the title of the blog again. ) I sit down on the throne, and I just start letting the snow pees work their magic. It was mostly noise ( not so much smell) but it was loud enough to wake the dead. I was even getting that great echoing effect from the toilet bowl. I'm sure that my fellow men's room companions enjoyed my musical talents. I decide to time my exit from the stall at same time as my conterparts to make sure they know who gave them such a beautiful flatulent serenade. Clearly, I'm ALPHA.

Final thought of the night:

Do women at weddings get horny because it reminds them of prom?

Right now

A whole new term for pain in the legs . . . . spank-a-licious.

Because after running a 5k, in under 21 minutes in this heat, it is the only thing my mind can think.
Now, a tired bear needs to sleep.

How absurd?

(warning this post is completely about cycling)

I know you have all been reading about "Operation Puerto". 58 cyclists are supposedly listed in a 500+ page police report on a doping ring. Fine. Whatever. Just don't ruin what is destined to be the best Tour de France in 10 years. Now what do the heads of international cycling do?

Jan Ulrich out of the Tour! Ivan Basso out of the Tour! (not by choice mind you) And countless others to be named soon!!! Dudes, you just ruined the Tour. We all know that pro riders dope except Lance (<-- that was a joke.) Quit living in fantasy land. Don't ruin my Tour de France.

So what do I suggest we as cycling fans do? I am taking myself out of the tour!!!

No watching it OLN when I get home! No reading it live on cyclingnews.com. No reading it on velonews. Unless the situation changes between now and the tour start, I am officially out of the 2006 Tour de France. See you next year.

BTW. Partying in Virginia Beach for a few days. Be back for the 4th. Stay sexy.

2 - 0

As far as running races go this Summer, I am currently 2 wins 0 losses versus my boy Matt.

In the first 5k race, I decided to go the soul stealing pass at the 2 mile marker. He actually turned around and saw me running about 10 yards behind. It was at that point that I knew I had to pass him. So I quickly passed him and then pulled off the old cycling manuever of trying to get as far away as possible from him. It worked well enough.

This time I just started out faster than he did and ran scared the rest of the way. He told me before the race he was gonna just tail me the whole time and try to out kick me. I don't think he saw me take off in the start. At the end of the race, he said he thought he was leading the whole time. Considering he had a fan in the stands, you would of thunk that he would know where I am. It ended up being a pretty epic 5k. It has been raining for days. It rained during the whole race, and it was on fairly hilly cross country course. FUN STUFF. (and it should be noted that two certain someones wussed out.)

Thinking about doing the Tour de France BBQ either July 3rd or July 4th. I'll let you all know.

End of a weekend wrap up

1) Congrats to Jan. Winning the Tour de Suisse! Next The Tour, and sealing your fate as one of the greatest cyclists ever.

2) Entourage. Best show T.V. hands down. Granted it is about the only show I watch right now so I don't have much to compare it to. Does it get any better then when Ari screams, "Loyd!!!"

3) Daddy needs some sleep.

Ode to the Morning Cup of Coffee

It occurs to me where I might be without my morning cup of coffee. No morning is complete and no day has begun without it. The focus and motivatioin that this cup gives me is priceless. I could wallow in endless inefficency watching television and wondering what I might do with the day on any given Saturday morning. But once that beautiful misty cup of black coffee touches my lips from inside the glimmering white mug, the fog that was confusing my mind is lifted and the entire world appears before me with infinite clariy. With the comfort and reassurance of a warm blanket, the coffee hits my stomach. I am myself again. So thank you, coffee. You have created life, every morning.

So . . .

Today a girl told me that I wasn't big enough of a dork for her. ( Add a comment with the joke you would insert here. eg. "Apparently she has never read this blog." )

which by the way, she hasn't.

This weeks mission

So this week's mission is to try and find a new car. Most of my friends know I am more talk than action when it comes to buying a car.

The problem is that somehow driving a 97 green escort wagon suits me just fine, because it is a car that I don't have to care about.

You spill coffee in the back seat. No problem.
You get a little bike grease in the trunk. No Problem.
You have a hot date. Well maybe thats a problem.
One headlight doesn't work. No Problem.

So, I'll test driving some cars and hopefully I'm not all talk.

On Demand Blogging

I've been told it is time to blog, and who am I to deny my fans.

Invasion of the bees. So I have 5 bees nests between the inside wall and the oustide wall. I spent a half hour outside my condo staring at all different kind of bees going in and out their individual nests.

So I fought through my moral dilema of killing bees versus the whole environment thing for a day. But then, a giant carpenter bee wiggled its way into my condo. Well, that pretty much sealed their fate. The next day I called the condo people to take care of the problem.

The next day, I'm looking at the wall. No more bees!! Great! or so I think. . . .

The problem is I can still hear the bees! At night bees hang out in their nest and if you listen carefully you can hear them moving around. It usually sounds like a scratching noise from inside the wall. In fact, as I wrote this I've heard the scratching noise twice. I'm expecting the bees to plan a surprise attack anyday, just when I have reached a certain level of comfort. I should have learned my lesson from Jurassic Park. Nature always wins.

Long time no see?

Whats up my people?

This is my first after-vegas post. Well, I survived. (barely) That is all that will be discussed of my trip to Vegas other than the following two items.

1) Las Vegas was AWESOME!!! If you have a chance to go, do it. Don't hesitate, just go!

2) We invented a new drink while in Vegas. It called either "The Gardiner" (pronounced as if you were in France i.e. gar-din- eh') or you can call it "The Eighteen." It consists of doing a shot of 1800 while chasing it with Red Bull. It rocks!

I didn't upack to till yesterday. It was a busy week. Work, Fun (read beer/poker), and Excercise. I did a 5k the day after arriving from Vegas. It was slightly painful.

A Belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY, goes out to my boy Matteis.

In a final note . . . I have some new furniture coming tomorrow. That's right, I broke down yesterday and bought a real couch, chair and ottamon. No more blue ikea bullshit couch for Daddy! So I got that going for me.

Have a good memorial day. I think I'm gonna go chill pool side for an hour and see if I can turn this pale skin, pink.

Almost there

Huge day at the Giro today! The individual time trial is gonna be awesome. We are all hoping Jan shows up and shuts up the doubters on his form. Although, I think Basso is prepared to tell people who is gonna win this years Giro.

News

Today is the team time trial at the Giro!! I expect CSC to throw down the hammer, although wouldn't it be nice to see Jan "The Kaiser" Ulrich do some monster pulls for his team and place T-mobile in the front. It ain't gonna happen but a man can dream can't he.

Boston 2007 is looking more and more like it might become the mission. I don't know if I want to be a "marathoner". People that only do marathons are a little off. They act like running is hard. Its not. (I finally alienated my audience.) I might have to do a triathlon or two this summer just to not be one of those people.

Right now, I'm trying to get into shape to throw down at the ULTRA-HIKE! (Thats right Bubba, It is ON, Bitch!) Other races may include The Boilermaker in Utica, NY and the Half-wit Half marathon in lovely Reading, PA. Anyone got any other suggestions on races. I want it to be longer than a 10k and I perfer trail running till September. (see the Ultra-Hike.)

Oh yes, Less than 10 days till VEGAS!!! "Vegas Baby, Vegas!" "We'll be up 500 hunie by mid-night" I'll be placing bets for people so let me know what you want!

On a final note, I was freaking out, cause I had no clothes for Vegas. I figure I needed to step my style game up if I was gonna look good in Vegas. So what did I do? I went to Nordstrom's and asked the dood working there to help me find some clothes. The dood was super helpful (cause I got some jeans that I think are really nice) but I think my credit card company is gonna send him a Thank You note. DOH!!! No one said it was easy looking pretty.

and on that note . . . Daddy needs to get to work to pay off his credit card.

Broad Street Race Report (of sorts)

First, I would just like to thank god for the Pheonix Suns beating the LA Lakers last night. Now that is out of the way, onto the news . . .

I get to FDR Park around 6:15 am, and I am the third one to park my car there. I head on over to the Subway along with other runners that parked at the Stadiums and get out onto Northern Philly streets about 15 minutes later.

I have a lot of time to chill, so I just hang out and go over my 10 mile running plan. I figure "go slow" is the theme. Run a simple 8 minute pace for the first 5 miles and then crank it up from there. Maybe end the race with a good 7 minute mile at the end. Nothing to stressfull.

Well, right before the start I run into a dood I know from the club, and I discuss my plan. He says that sounds good and we head over to the start. He convinces me to hop in the 6 minute pace bracket for the start. At first I think he is crazy, but then I see a 12 year old next to me and some 220+ pound dood plugging in his Ipod. So I figure that "6 minute pace" must be relative. At this point we both admit that we need to pee really bad.

The gun goes off. The bladder is full, but we (myself and the dood) need to run. So we run the first mile. Passing a healthy amount of people. We are talking feeling good.
The first mile was 7:15. Hmmm. That was a little fast but I feel good. (Still need to pee though.)

Running and talking, we get to the second mile. ~13:45! Our pace seems to be going in the wrong direction. (the bladder is full!)

Mile 3: 20:35 I was a little worried. (the bladder is in danger mode)

Needless to say my go slow plan has failed. We have offically settled into a 6:50 pace. Thank fully around mile 4, we see some porto johns and get to the take a mid-race pee. After the mid-race pee, we decide that we need to pick up the pace for the lost time peeing. We probably did the middle mile around 6:35 pace.

Well, we run the rest of the way and I slowly melt into my pain cave. By mile 9, I am in full pain cave mode, and my 6:40 pace is now a sad 7:30 pace. I see 1 hour and 3 mintes with one mile to go. I crank out the last mile to end in 1:10 minutes and change. If you take into account the pee break and the time it took for me to cross the starting line, I ran ~1:08 !!!!

After Ice was administered to the legs and beer was applied to the brain.

Boston Marathon 2007 ?!?! (perhaps)

Does this make me a runner?

So, I signed up for the Broadstreet run. 10 miles. eh, 10 miles ain't that bad. It is all downhill anyway. Anyone want to take a guess at what my finishing time will be? The person who is the closest without going over gets a prize. Thats right, Price is Right style.

Hmm, now if I could just find me one of Bob Barker's Beauties.

Forget running, Let's Party!!!

Wassup yall?!?! (yes, all two of you that read this after I tell you I made this post on the phone.)

Did the BMRC's Out and Back 4 mile fun run, up and down Kelly Drive last night. I started out in the middle of the pack because I just don't care that much about a 4 mile run and I know that I'm not winning my age group anymore. I did the first mile in 8:32, at the turn I was 15:22, I'm not sure what my 3 mile time was but I finished at 28:50. which means I did the last two miles at sub seven minute pace. (which was about my goal for the race)

Anyways, on to the title of this post . . .

There is an awesome party after the race at one of the boat houses. Free food. Free beer!! Lager, no less. (Did I mention that the beer was free!!!) Lets just say Daddy may have had a few too many last night. A band played some cover tunes after a decent dj played some chill indie music. I ended up closing the place down and helping the club put tables away and what not. It was a good time, so I am definitely telling you all do it when it comes around next year.

I don't mean to brag . . .

but I am having an amazing hair day. I'll be the first to admit that some days my hair just ain't cutting it, but this is definitely not one of those days. It is organized but not too organized and it falls back into position after running my hand through it. I say this now because I'm about to go running and well, my good hair day will be over. :(

This blog turns one year old in about a month. Sounds like an excuse to have a bbq to me?! Don't worry, All the loyal Leave The Fan On readers will be invited.

Triple Digits!

Oh yeah, kids, Eddie was a race car driver. . . .

After an absolute piss afternoon at the fuck factory, I decided it was time to see what the old escort wagon could do on the turnpike. Got that bad boy up to 101 mph!! That is a new land speed record for that car, or at least for the last few years.

The trick was to get the car to 90 mph on the up hill parts of the turnpike. That way I could squeeze out the extra power on the downhill to hit 100.

It was awesome. Best part was pulling up behind the cop doing 85 a few minutes later.

I knew I bought cheap furniture for a reason. . .

I have learned about the importance of having cheap furniture you just don't care about that can be easily replaced. Cause when something needs to break, it will be there for you. And when you're done, you can throw it out and just replace it with some other cheap peice of furniture.

Chairs are very cheap and make a satisfying "crunch", however just fall to peices Sliding closet doors are nice, because they make alot of noise and can take beating that a chair just can't withstand.

Whats up party people?

A big yo yo from party central!

Ok, maybe not party central but last night was St. Patrick's Day.

I have a new drink for all of yall to try when you are feeling up to the challenge. It comes from Johnny D's girlfriend. The title of the drink is "The Dirty Hoe!" A great name to start with and it only gets better for the beer snobs in all of us.

A Dirty Hoe is a Lindemans Framboise Raspberry Lambic poured into a Hoe Garden! I'm not sure how much of one or the other but it was good. I"m assuming there is more Hoe Garden than Lambic because Lambic has a very strong flavor. I'm also assuming you could use any kind of Lambic, not neccesarily Raspberry.

Best of all, for you men who don't like to look like your drinking a girly drink, in a shaded bar it looks like your drinking a "lager". So go out and enjoy the juicy sweetness of a "Dirty Hoe!" Just be sure to wrap your willy.

My shy but loyal fan base?

So, No one ever really adds comments (not that I don't appreciate when you do add comments cause I do), but I see that counter at the bottom of my page ticking upwards on a consistant basis.

So what is the deal people? You a little shy? or are my post just so retarded that there is really nothing to comment on.

I assume that it is more the later than the former. I will try to make things a little more interesting for you. Maybe I'm just not sharing enough of the my life with you all. Don't take offense, but I'm not about to tell the details of the wet dream I had last night. Well, at least not over the internet, I would probably tell you in person.

Anywayz, if you want better posts, I'll work on it. Stay pretty out there!

Constructing an 8 foot Snowman

What do you do when it snows a foot? Well, I shovel off my car and then proceed to construct an 8 foot tall snow. The snow man did quite live up to my initial expectations put for two people and 2 hours I think it is all right.

this blog has been censored

So I am not gonna write about how I know someone who had sex with someone else I know. Or at least according to one of those someones, they had sex. but I was told that i was not allowed to write about me having this knowledge. So I assured that someone that nothing of the sort would ever be posted on this blog. Although according to the other someone there was no physical contact involved in this act. Which really leads me to wonder. Confused? so am i.

The Unstopable Force v. The Inmoveable Object

Ever just sit at your desk at home, listening to Wilco's "Heavy Metal Drummer", in your white robe, drinking your morning coffee and wonder. And after that song you switched it up to a little StereoLab. All the while you kept wondering . . . . .

Weekly Status?

This week was not so bad. Hit the town with "Gay K" on Thursday and we ended the evening in the shady-est strip club I had ever ventured into. Hence the post at 2:30 am about Tits and Ass.

I hit up Kildares in KoP, flying solo style. It was a good time. I always run into the same 2 guys from where I used to work. I had to use a little quality control and then decided to end the evening a little early. Thats all right though, I'm hanging out "Big L" tomorrow night I am gonna need my rest.

The Return of Comp. Sci. Boy?

So a little back story . . . .

In grad school I breifly lost my mind and create two split personalities to amuse myself. One personality was known as Triathlete Man, a statuesqe free spirited triathlete who conquers the known world all while looking good in a speedo, and his alter ego, Comp. Sci. Boy, a skinny and deteriorating young man who only knows how to program a computer.

Welcome back Comp. Sci. Boy, I can't say I missed you.

Art

All this painting (or at least prepping for painting) has got me thinking about what I might want to hang on my walls once I'm done painting them. I find it funny that I am going to take all this time and money to paint my walls only to cover them up with someone else's work but that is how life works I guess.

Here is on option for your viewing pleasure. Peter Stanick Be sure to click on the things you see in the picture. That is how he displays all his work.

Another Round of High Fives!

That is right kids!!! High Five!!!

The paint train hit my condo today, and it delivered. Two of the big walls in my living room now have 2 coats of primer on them, and now I can put my furniture back to where it was until I pick a color and paint the final coat.

I, on the other hand, am ready to take a nap, because I am a tired bear.

A little late?

Happy New Year! to my devoted readers and everyone else.

After all that sanding yesterday, you would think I would have been excited to get painting; however the entire right side of my back was in pain from sanding.

Well have a good 2006.

Sanding Progress

I started at 10:30 am

1) First wall done at 11 am
2) 2nd wall done at noon. This wall was a little more complicated. I had a sliding glass window and heating vent to deal with.
3) The 3rd wall is done and I cleaned the dust off all the walls.

Right now, we will take a time out for our sponsors. The sanding progress post is brought to you by, wxpn radio and pepsi cause I was too lazy to make coffee this morning.

4) SCORE!!!

All done sanding with the exception of having to clean the walls of the hallway. I might run up to the paint store to pick up two buckets of primer.

Sanding

If you are wondering what I am doing today? Well, I'm sanding the walls of my condo to get them ready for painting. Fun Stuff!

High Fives all around

That is right kids, HIGH FIVE!

I finished putting up primer this evening. In fact, I think we have good reason to question my hetrosexuality. Instead of going to the gym to lift weights, I stayed home, put primer on my walls and watched the movie Hitch.

Not to toot my own horn, but damn my walls are starting to look sexy. They even look good enough that I could hang my pictures back up and forget about the fact that the walls only have primer on them for the next 9 months. (but I'm not gonna do that!) The paint train is rolling . . . . I need to pick a color. Suggestions? ? ?

Brain Cells Dying too rapidly

I painted primer onto the walls of my dining room today. Since I live in a 2 bedroom condo, I can't escape the fumes. I can feel my brain cells dying. You can ask around, I can't afford to lose the brain cells I have.

Pavement's Greatest

So in between breaking stuff in my condo, I put together my greatest hits of Pavement Mix. SO here it goes. I decided 3 songs from each major studio album. . .

1. Heckler Spray - Westing
2. Frontwards - Slanted and Enchanted
3. Circa 1762 - Slanted and Enchanted
4. Box Elder[Live] - Slanted and Enchanted
5. Silence Kit - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
6. Unseen Power of the Picket Fence - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
7. Range Life - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
8. Newark Wilder - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
9. Grave Architecture - Wowee Zowee
10. Kennel District - Wowee Zowee
11. Father to a Sister of Thought - Wowee Zowee
12. Shady Lane - Brighten the Corners
13. Embassy Row - Brighten the Corners
14. We are Underused - Brighten the Corners
15. The Hexx - Terror Twilight
16. Folk Jam - Terror Twilight
17. Speak, See, Remember - Terror Twilight

Hey, I broke my own rule, and some of these songs aren't from major releases. Aww well, they are still good. I think I could listen to Kennel District and Father to a Sister of Thought for a solid hour on repeat.

Apparently I'm not that cool (nor do I want to be)

Happy Thanksgiving Yall! On to the story . . .

So, I went out tonight with my sister and her bestest friend Varsha. We drove on down to Manayunk after grabbing some dinner. It was a really cool time at first. We went to the Brew Pub and had a few drinks laughing amungst ourselves. It was a really good time as I said. Then we travelled down Main Street to Kildares in Manayunk. This around where things in my mind started going wrong. . .

Kildares was crowded and the hip people were out. Which was cool, but! It was crowded enough that I had this trigger of making sure my sister and Varsha were cool and not getting fucked with.

Well, we got a drink and went to the dance floor. I was cool for about an hour, enjoying the view, and leaving to talk with some ladies but then I snapped. I don't know if I sobered up or if the vision of my sister dancing flipped a switch but all of the sudden I turned into a body gaurd. (A skinny body gaurd but I was willing to fight to the death so I had an edge.)

Anyway my sister danced and a couple guys would attempt to dance with her. Let's just say it didn't really last all that long cause the stare of death that they would catch from me knocked some common sense into them and they would back off.

Near the end of the evening my sister walked away from the dance floor. I followed her a few minutes later only to find some balding dood talking to her. I think he catched my drift instantly cause he stoppped talking to her within in a minute of my arrival. I just kept looking at him and he knew.

A mintue after that a dood who was previously 'dancing' with my sister walked by her and smiled. Well, I purposely moved into his way. He bumped into me. It was great! I didn't get out of his way. He bumped into me 2 more times and said excuse me and I ignored him. He then slid by me and said something about me being an asshole. I just looked at like he was about to die. I think he caught my drift cause he kept on walking.

Anyways, we left at that point cause my sister and Varsha knew that I was pretty much ready to start a fight with anyone who would look at them. At one point I had handed Varsha my jacket cause I thought it was really about to go down.

When we got into the car and started driving home, my sister told me that one of the doods invited her to an after party. Holy Shit!!! If she mentioned that at the bar
I would be jail. I swear to god.

Well anyways, I apologized to Varsha and my sister for ruining their evening, but I'm not the least bit sorry. I can go to bed with a clear concious. I know what those guys were thinking even if they weren't thinking it. I don't give a fuck if I ruined my sister's evening or got in the way between her and a possible soul mate. I did what I had to do.

Which Mean Girl are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

There is a hair in your moose.

The alternate title of this post was going to be "Experiments in Hair Care Products" but I liked the other one too.

So I've been thinking about my hair. Yeah I think about my hair, and I ain't ashamed to say so. I came to the conclusion that my hair is very thin. Thin like an anorexic. So I need something to give it some volume. Much like the anorexic would need an I.V. (to complete the analogy)

I go to the local Superfresh to paruse the hair care product isle. I see this thing called Mouse, and a clip from T.V. pops in to my head where Angie Everhart
is saying how mouse is the secret to great hair. Who am I to argue with Angie Everhart? She has good hair, so I figure I'll pick myself up some mouse. I go with the this Aussie brand mouse with medium hold. It is at this point that I get a little suspicous. You see I'm not really looking for something to hold my hair. I just want it to appear thicker.

Well, I wake up the next morning and figure I'll give this stuff a shot. I shampoo. I condition. I get out of the shower, brush my teeth, etc. I finally get to the hair part of my morning routine. I brush my hair straight and reach for the mouse. I put a dolp of it on my hand and place it on my hair and somehow my hair just sucks the stuff up like a vacum. No need to really move it around. It just melts right into my hair. Well upon further brushing of my hair I realize that there is one incredibly stiff area of hair. Outside of that my hair was the same as it always was. No real difference.

So ladies, (if any of you ever read this) what did I do wrong with the mouse? Or did Angie Everhart lead me astray? Should I go with a different hair cair product? Let me know.

Charles
